Responsibility at ascena

ascena Retail Group, Inc., has a long history of supporting women and girls, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Our founder, Roslyn S. Jaffe, is a trailblazing female entrepreneur and a mother of three. Affectionately known as "Mrs. J," she recognized the need for a new kind of shopping experience that offered value-based and fashion-forward wardrobe solutions for women entering the workforce. Mrs. J opened the first dressbarn store in Stamford, CT, in 1962. Not only did she pioneer a new retail experience, but she also committed to providing her customers and associates with opportunities.

Today, ascena is a multi-billion-dollar collective of specialty retail brands, including dressbarn, maurices, Lane Bryant, Catherines, Justice, Ann Taylor, LOFT, and Lou & Grey.

One of ascena's core purposes is to provide all women and girls with fashion and inspiration for living confidently every day. Our commitment to women and girls is a driving force throughout ascena and guides the business decisions we make every day.

We work for women so that we can support and inspire women - from those in our global supply chain who make our products to the associates who work in our stores. We believe that caring for women across the world, and providing opportunities to grow, give back and live well, will lead to a better future for all. In this belief is a commitment to connect our customers and associates to the causes we support, while giving back to the communities where we operate. We believe this will spark ripples of universal positive impact.

In short, our aspiration is to be a leader in responsible fashion and impact our communities, while inspiring all women and girls to change the world.

We are committed to making a positive impact through the following areas of Responsibility:

Supply Chain

Drive strong compliance standards to lead a global network of responsible and ethical partners.
Diversity & Inclusion

Leverage the diversity of our associates to create an inclusive culture where everyone belongs, innovates, and collaborates.
Operations & Real Estate
